She’s doing well. More later.

Holy fuck, what a long trip!

It went much more smoothly than I anticipated. I had fun. It would have been really fun but the housepet could be kind of a buzz kill. That being said, it was rough on her and she held up like a trooper. She only got carsick twice. She mostly rode in my lap. For 3200 miles. But she never fought me taking her in and out of the car, or tried to run away or anything like that. We both smelled completely like ass by the end– nothing like riding with a litter pan in a closed-up car! She’s sacked out right next to me. She’s been sticking to me like glue.

I was blessed with amazing weather. The sun was so bright that even through the windshield I got all freckled. The sun has done wonderful things for my disposition. I feel cheery and bubbly and shit.

By the end I could not bear the thought of hauling the bags and the litter pan and the cat in and out of a room for one more night so I drove 12 hours straight and cut the trip short by a day. I can’t see very well at night, but Florida is designed for blind people so the roads all had bright reflectors on the dividing lines.

I took a look at my mom’s belly. I had been against the surgery until I saw her stomach. It’s awful. I could see her intestines through her skin. I’ll spare you the details, but I am 100% on board now. Per a telephone call from my stepdaddy, the surgeons took her in about an hour ago. Best case scenario I’ll hear from them in three hours or so.
