I see your bum

I will now perform an interpretative dance.

I'm bored. Can you tell? I am at my parents' house on eastern Long Island, housesitting while they sail the boat to Florida for the winter. It's very quiet here. It smells good, of wood fires and sea salt and wet.

I think, sometimes, that I would like to live out here, but I have this fear that if I leave New York City, nothing interesting will ever happen to me again.

Other things I fear: That cutting my hair will age me. That my upcoming surgery will leave me unable to have a child. That my mother is on a boat somewhere in the Atlantic. That the economy will never improve, or will not improve quickly enough for me to avert disaster. That there is a monster hiding in the springs of the antique wing chair Luc and I dragged home the other day.
